Summary of the contracting process

Network Rail Infrastructure Limited is currently in the planning stage for a procurement process titled "Lineside Tree Surveys Eastern Region," focusing on survey services within the rail and utility industry category. This process is based in London, UK, and is managed by a public authority within the central government sector. The current engagement is a market engagement exercise to gather feedback and capabilities from the market, with a questionnaire deadline set for 6th February 2026. The actual procurement event is planned for a later date, and the contract period is slated from 1st February 2027 to 31st January 2033, marking a long-term engagement opportunity for suitable contractors. This notice is primarily a market engagement initiative and will not result in any immediate contract awards.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in survey services, particularly those experienced in the rail and utility sectors. The tender could benefit SMEs and VCSEs by providing a substantial growth opportunity with an estimated contract value of £3.2 million for delivering professional tree inspection services. Organisations looking to expand their portfolio within utility services and those with the capacity to operate in complex environments such as railways are well-suited to engage in this process. Participating in the market engagement phase provides an excellent opportunity for businesses to align their offerings with the proposed framework requirements and potentially secure future contracts when the formal procurement begins.
