Summary of the contracting process

Derbyshire County Council is in the planning stage of a procurement process for a service titled "Trauma Informed Training," aimed at providing a comprehensive training programme across educational settings in Derbyshire. The council intends to engage with the market through a pre-market event scheduled for 11th February 2026, as part of their strategy to develop effective procurement documentation and understand market capabilities. This initiative falls under the services category, with a focus on social work and related services, and targets educational establishments from early years to post-16 phases across the region, including out-of-county schools with Derbyshire Children in Care. The procurement process seeks input to shape the future service model, which is anticipated to commence in October 2026.

This procurement opportunity presents significant business growth potential for SMEs specialising in educational training services, particularly those with expertise in psychosocial and trauma-informed educational practices. Companies capable of delivering both virtual and in-person training sessions and developing sustainable training frameworks will be well-positioned to compete. Moreover, businesses with the ability to provide ongoing CPD opportunities and collaborate with statutory bodies like the Virtual School and Early Years Service for alignment with educational responsibilities may find this contract appealing. The initiative promises a maximum annual value of £50k, and it covers all eight districts and boroughs of Derbyshire, offering a wide geographical reach for service providers.
