Summary of the contracting process

The University of Edinburgh, a body governed by public law, is initiating the Strategic Leadership in Research Training Programme. This active tender falls under the services category, specifically within the training industry, and is aimed to advance research leadership skills for mid-career researchers. Located in Edinburgh, UKM75, the procurement process is currently at the tender stage, with submissions being made electronically via Public Contracts Scotland’s portal. Interested parties must adhere to the deadline on 4th May 2026 for bid submissions. The estimated programme duration is from August 2026 to July 2028, with potential extensions leading up to 2030. Valued at approximately £183,333.34, the project requires suppliers to demonstrate robust financial and professional capabilities, including specified insurance requirements.

This tender presents valuable opportunities for businesses specialising in training services, particularly those with expertise in vocational and leadership development programmes. Organisations with a strong track record in co-designing and delivering training services will find this opportunity well-suited to showcase their skills in creating education and personal development frameworks. Suppliers with a minimum annual turnover of £100,000 in the last three financial years and those able to provide comprehensive examples of relevant experience have favourable conditions for participation. Joining forces with other entities through subcontracting is a possibility, promoting collaborative growth. As the University plans alternate cohorts, both open and targeted, over four years, the programme could facilitate long-term partnerships that align with its People Strategy and Research and Innovation Strategy 2030. This remains an attractive prospect for capable firms aiming to impact educational and leadership capabilities within the research sector.
