South Western Railway Limited (SWRL) will be seeking information (feedback) from the market regarding Supply of Train engines, transmissions, wheelsets, spares and parts contracts, accessorises and consumables to its designated depots across the south west region. The primary focus is to better understand market/supplier appetite, capacity and capability, as well as perceived risks and opportunities. South Western Railway Limited (SWRL) is part of the Publicly owned Train Operating Companies(TOC) under the DfT Operator Limited (DFTO. SWRL runs the South Western train lines from London to the west coast of the country.

SWRL wishes to explore the market to understand the availability and interest of potential suppliers who can manufacture and deliver a range of Train Spare Parts, Accessorises and Consumables to its designated depots across the south west region in England for use in its various asset maintenance areas (Rolling stock, Track, and Signals etc). A small sample of the requirement have been listed as information to accompany this questionnaire as examples of the type of products and requirements involved. SWRL is considering whether our requirements could be met by one supplier or whether multi-suppliers are better suited. SWRL engineering team works in a reactive environment; although some requirements(including larger scale project requirement ) can be forecast in advance, products/parts demands also originate from emergency situations. Due to necessity such requirement will require agile suppliers both in terms of capacity(increased requirement during a short notice and or period of time) and the time (emergency response when required).
