Summary of the contracting process

NHS Highland has completed the procurement process for the provision of Distress Brief Intervention services across North Highland and Argyll and Bute, targeted for individuals aged 16 and above. The tender, identified as HH242-25-TW36, falls under the health and social work services category, with Change Mental Health Ltd awarded the contract valued at £1,607,500. This two-year contract, commencing on 1st April 2026, offers an option to extend up to an additional three years. The procurement method utilised was limited, involving negotiated procedures without the publication of a contract notice due to the absence of competition for technical reasons.

This procurement provides substantial opportunities for businesses involved in health and social care services, particularly those specialising in mental health interventions. While Change Mental Health Ltd is the designated supplier, the contract's flexibility to incorporate additional service provisions and pathways could open future partnership opportunities with NHS Highland. Businesses with expertise in coordinating inter-agency frameworks and enhancing community support models could find growth opportunities, especially if additional funding is available to expand service coverage and effectiveness in responding to distress cases.
