Summary of the contracting process

Transport for London (TfL) is currently in the planning stage of a procurement process for a Journey Planning System. This initiative is part of a Preliminary Market Engagement (PME) aiming to enhance service delivery by assessing new market technologies and features. Their key interest is to understand market trends, supplier capabilities, and potential risks to optimise the system's objectives. The procurement is categorised under services, focusing on areas like database software packages and information technology services. TfL intends for this engagement to also stimulate market interest and carry out a thorough evaluation of the supplier landscape. Suppliers interested in participating should submit a Market Sounding Questionnaire (MSQ) by 17:00 on 30 March 2026. The project pertains to the UK region with future contract periods expected from 2028 to 2033.

This tender provides businesses in the software development, IT consulting, and data services industries with a valuable opportunity to engage with TfL and influence the evolving Journey Planning System. Those with innovative solutions and expertise in data services, information systems, or IT planning will find this opportunity particularly promising. Engaging in the preliminary market engagement process allows businesses to showcase their capabilities, potentially securing a role in developing a critical service for London. This is an ideal prospect for firms looking to expand their footprint in the public authority sector, and in doing so, it promises significant business growth and collaboration opportunities within the metropolis's central government initiatives.
