Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership-Procurement Services, hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust, is currently in the planning stage to procure minor oral surgery services, focusing on dental practice and related services. The process involves commissioning Level 2 minor oral surgery services in primary care or community settings across the counties of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, and Pembrokeshire. An online market engagement event is scheduled for 16 March 2026 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm for interested providers, with the tender expected to be issued in three separate Lots for each county. The contracting authority is looking to gather expressions of interest and conduct open dialogues to shape the procurement approach, aiming to offer high-quality, sustainable services for its communities. The tender is expected to be published on 1 April 2026, under the legal framework CELEX 32014L0024, and covered by the Government Procurement Agreement (GPA).

This tender offers significant business growth opportunities for dental service providers who can deliver minor oral surgery services. Companies with expertise in dento-alveolar surgery, single root apicectomies, multiple extractions, and other related procedures are well-positioned to compete. Providers capable of establishing clinical bases in Western Wales, or who already operate in these regions, are particularly encouraged to participate. By collaborating with NHS Wales, providers will improve access to dental care for local residents, thus creating positive working relationships and potentially strengthening their market presence. This procurement process provides an ideal platform for businesses aiming to expand their operational footprint within Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, and Pembrokeshire.
