Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process conducted by Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust focuses on providing Citizens Advice support for haemoglobinopathy patients and addressing general health inequalities. Situated in Sheffield, United Kingdom, this contract is relevant to the legal advisory services industry. The procurement stage has reached the award phase, with the award notice published on 4th March 2026. The contract period is set to commence on 5th March 2026, lasting until 31st March 2027, with potential extensions until 2029, subject to funding availability. This direct award process was chosen to engage Sheffield Citizens Advice and Law Centre, identified as the single supplier capable of delivering the necessary range of services.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in legal advisory and representation services, particularly those focusing on healthcare-related issues. The potential for service delivery within a secondary care setting enhances collaboration with family hubs, thereby broadening community reach. Large businesses, as well as those within the voluntary, community, and social enterprise sectors (VCSE), are well-positioned to benefit from such initiatives. Moreover, this contract fosters long-term partnership prospects with governmental organisations, promoting sustained growth and enhancing service impact in addressing health inequalities driven by socio-economic factors.

Notice Title

Citizens Advice support for Haemoglobinopathy patients and general health inequalities support

Notice Description

Increasing impact of poverty that drives poor health outcomes, but provision of support sits outside of the remit of the NHS. The Council does fund CAS for work with Family Hubs, however it is recognised that some families will not access these services whilst they do access SCFT. Therefore, providing CAS within secondary care is necessary and to ensure aligned delivery with services it is appropriate for SCFT to contract CAS. The funding from SCC has been given to provide CAS services.
