Summary of the contracting process

NHS England has awarded a contract to Macmillan Cancer Support Trading Limited for the "Diagnosis Connect" service, a pilot initiative aimed at enhancing patient self-management of long-term conditions and alleviating NHS pressure. This project falls under miscellaneous health services, operating within the framework for a public authority in central government. Located in London, the contract runs from 31st March 2026 to 31st March 2028, with the procurement stage currently at the award phase, pending signature by 25th March 2026. The procurement method used is a direct award, as authorised by the UK government legislation governing prototype development to improve patient experience in primary care settings.

The "Diagnosis Connect" service presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in health services, particularly those with experience in patient care and diagnostics. The pilot seeks innovative approaches to support patients, including quality assurance frameworks and supplementary aid. While Macmillan Cancer Support is the initial supplier, the involvement of the VCSE sector implies opportunities for charities and organisations focused on health and diagnostics. Businesses offering novel goods or services in healthcare, particularly those adept at prototype development and system evaluation, could benefit greatly from this collaboration.
