Summary of the contracting process

The Forestry Commission is in the planning stage of a procurement process for the "Onshore Wind Energy Development – Northumberland" project. This initiative falls under the energy and related services industry category and is expected to provide significant opportunities for developing a wind farm in Northumberland. Currently, the Commission has issued a preliminary market engagement notice, inviting interested developers to express their interest by 31st March 2026. The planned contract period is set to begin on 1st September 2026 and conclude on 1st January 2076. Interested parties are urged to contact Forestry England for engagement and any enquiries, emphasising email communication to commercial.services@forestryengland.uk.

This tender represents a substantial growth opportunity for businesses specialising in energy services, particularly those with expertise in wind energy projects. Companies that are equipped to undertake comprehensive assessments covering technical, environmental, commercial, and legal aspects will be well-suited for this venture. By participating, businesses could secure a short-term Exclusivity Agreement, potentially leading to a full Lease Agreement for the wind farm's development and operation. Engaging in this tender allows enterprises to contribute to the UK's renewable energy sector and expand their operations in energy infrastructure development.
