Summary of the contracting process

The NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board has announced plans for a procurement process under the Provider Selection Regime, exempt from the Procurement Act 2023. This planned tender seeks a community pharmacy contractor to deliver a COVID-19 triage, assessment, and prescribing service in South Yorkshire, targeting patients deemed at the highest risk. The process is in the planning stage, with a future notice date set for 30th April 2026. The project is characterised by pharmacy services within the healthcare industry and aims to establish a robust community pharmacy-led approach, with emphasis on specialist prescribing knowledge and delivery during unpredictable demand.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for community pharmacies to expand their service offerings by engaging in specialist COVID-19 care. Businesses equipped to provide medical services, particularly those with experience in pharmaceutical care and prescription services, are best suited to compete. Successful bidders will be able to develop their workforce’s expertise in high-risk patient assessments and enhance their capacity to manage urgent healthcare demands. The estimated contract value stands at £40,000, indicating a promising potential for business growth in medical supply and service enhancement within the South Yorkshire region.
