Summary of the contracting process

The Mayor and Commonalty and Citizens of the City of London are spearheading the preliminary market engagement for the Future Police Estate Programme, which falls under the engineering works and construction works industry category. This initiative, currently at the planning update stage, intends to lay the groundwork for forthcoming procurements associated with various City of London Police estates such as the Mounted Unit facility, Guildhall Yard East refurbishment, and a Tactical Firearms Training Facility, among others. Located at the City of London's Guildhall, stakeholders are invited to engage at an in-person information event scheduled for 9th April, 2026, from 1:30pm to 5:00pm, a key opportunity to understand the procurement options deeply. Key deadlines include confirming attendance to this session by 8th April, 2026, while the official procurement notice will be published on 30th July, 2026, and construction work is anticipated to begin on 10th August, 2026.

This tender offers a significant growth opportunity for businesses in the building construction and engineering sectors, especially those with expertise in secure environments and refurbishment projects. With a substantial budget for projects such as the Police Training Facility in Dagenham with an estimated value of £17.7 million, and Guildhall Yard East refurbishment valued around £14.3 million, enterprises positioned in the construction domain can enhance their portfolio by securing these high-value contracts. The programme is well-suited for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that seek to expand their scope in public sector infrastructure projects, particularly those experienced in handling complex and sensitive construction works. Engaging in this preliminary phase provides a competitive edge and allows businesses to contribute feedback, ensuring alignment with procurement strategies.
