Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process for the "In-Building Coverage Service" initiated by Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust offers an opportunity to enhance the telecommunications infrastructure at their Acute site. The contract aims to improve 4G/5G cellular signal strength specifically for Vodafone Trust mobiles. Located at Homerton Row, Hackney, London, the procurement falls within the "Maintenance services of telecommunications equipment" industry category. The process is at the awarding stage, dated 26th March 2026, with Vodafone Limited being the selected supplier. The procurement method implemented was "limited," signifying an award procedure without prior publication of a call for competition, deemed appropriate under the legal basis CELEX directive 32014L0024, allowing for optimisation of the existing contract parameters with Vodafone.

This tender presents strategic growth opportunities for businesses specialising in telecommunications network solutions, particularly those with experience in enhancing mobile signal coverage. Companies that can offer innovative solutions to improve cellular connectivity within healthcare settings are best suited to engage with such procurements. The focus on strengthening in-building coverage aligns with the pressing need to address signal-related risks in clinical environments, which could lead to increased reliance on mobile solutions. As Vodafone is converting existing funds to deliver this direct coverage solution, businesses capable of offering specialised equipment or services that complement Vodafone's deployment would find potential opportunities for collaboration and growth in this sector.
