Summary of the contracting process

The Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead is planning a tender seeking a partner organisation for the operational management of the John West House hostel facility, located in Maidenhead. This contract pertains to housing services and falls within the services category, specifically aimed at managing a council-owned building that accommodates statutory homeless households and former rough sleepers. Suppliers are invited to participate in a market engagement survey by 24th April 2026 to influence the procurement strategy, marking the planning stage of this procurement process, which is scheduled to begin with the contract on 1st May 2027 and potentially extending through 30th April 2031.

This opportunity promises significant business growth, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) specialising in housing services. Businesses adept at providing facility management and operational services within residential environments are well-suited to compete for this tender. The arrangement will require the successful provider to act as the council's agent, managing day-to-day operations except for rent collections, which will remain within the council's purview. Hence, companies experienced in managing properties, carrying out repairs, and providing a 24-hour staffing presence will find this contract highly beneficial for expanding their portfolio in collaboration with a local government authority.
