Summary of the contracting process

Bristol City Council is currently managing an active procurement process for a Watercourse Maintenance contract, focusing on the maintenance of watercourses and associated structures. The procurement falls under the services category, specifically targeting river regulation and flood control, as well as repair and maintenance services. Located in the UK region UKK11, the contract is valued at £1,000,000 net and £1,200,000 gross, and is being pursued through an open procurement procedure. The tender stage is ongoing, with key deadlines including the tender submission deadline on 6th July 2026 and the award period concluding on 11th August 2026. The contract is scheduled to commence on 5th October 2026 and is expected to last until 4th October 2030, with options for extensions.

This tender offers significant business growth opportunities, particularly for firms specialising in civil engineering, watercourse management, and maintenance services. The Council has prioritised criteria such as price, quality, and social value, making it advantageous for businesses that can deliver comprehensive and qualitative services. The contract is suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and provides the potential for further growth given its options for extension and price adjustment relative to the Consumer Price Index. Prospective bidders should also ensure they are familiar with handling both routine and reactive maintenance tasks across council-managed sites to ensure a competitive advantage in the tender process.
