Notice Information
Notice Title
Denton Flood Alleviation Scheme
Notice Description
Newcastle City Council (NCC) has secured funding for a major flood alleviation project in the Denton area of Newcastle upon Tyne that will better protect 198 properties from surface water flooding. We have identified 17 "at risk" locations where appropriate measures will reduce that risk. The project is being split over 7 phases: phases 1,2 and 7 will be delivered in-house; phases 3-6 involve larger measures which will require some external design work and an external contractor(s) for all construction work. These phases are made up of the following measures: Phase 3 - Retrofit SuDS basins ranging from 50m3 to 300m3. Phase 4 - North East Catchment SuDS measures including permeable paving, raingardens, bunds and nature-based solutions, grouped for proximity. Phase 5 - Large SuDS basins and Nature Based Solutions Phase 6 - Permeable paving and underground tanks NCC will be asking interested providers around September 2026 to tender for a design and build contract for Phases 3-6 of the project. Phases 4 and 5 will be designed in-house at NCC; Phases 3 and 6 will require an external consultant. Landscape design will also be undertaken in-house at NCC. This pipeline notice is for information only. At this stage, no further details are available beyond what is published here. When this opportunity progresses, a Tender Notice will be published on the Central Digital Platform. If Newcastle City Council seeks early engagement, a Market Engagement Notice will be issued at that time, along with any relevant information. Suppliers are advised to register on the OPEN Procurement Portal to receive updates and notifications as they become available: www.open-uk.org We appreciate your interest and understanding
