Summary of the contracting process

The Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime is initiating a planning stage for the procurement process titled "MOPAC Card Services." This process targets the financial and insurance services industry and operates within the United Kingdom. Currently, in the planning stage, a preliminary market engagement is taking place to shape the procurement strategy. Interested parties are encouraged to participate in this market engagement exercise through a Request for Information (RFI), which is open from 7th April 2026 and concludes at 3 pm on 30th April 2026. Prospective procurement activities are expected to commence in August 2026, with the current contract concluding by January 2027, followed by a new contract period from February 2027 to January 2030.

This procurement presents significant opportunities for businesses within the financial and insurance services sector to expand their operations and secure long-term contracts. The nature of the planned contract—expected to cover several years—favours established businesses capable of managing extensive service delivery. This opportunity is ideal for businesses looking to enhance their relationship with public authorities, particularly those specialising in card services and related financial technologies. By engaging early in the market engagement phase, businesses can position themselves strategically, gain insights into requirements, and tailor their proposals to align with the contracting authority's objectives, ultimately bolstering their growth prospects in the public sector.
