Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process initiated by Llywodraeth Cymru / Welsh Government focuses on delivering technical support for the Sustainable Farming Scheme (SFS). This scheme falls under the environmental and agricultural services category, specifically "Agricultural, forestry, horticultural, aquacultural and apicultural services" as per CPV classification 77000000. The opportunity is currently in the planning stage, with a tender anticipated to be published after 17 April 2026. The scheme aims to operate across the United Kingdom, particularly focused in the UKL region, with the initial contract period set from 20 July 2026 to 19 July 2027, and potential extensions available, making the opportunity especially lucrative for businesses in the land-based technical services sector. The total gross amount allocated for this contract is £5.34 million GBP.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses focused on land-based technical services to expand their footprint within government contracts. By joining the Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) for Rural Support under Category 2, 2.3, businesses can enhance their market reach, as the DPS is designed to facilitate a streamlined procurement process with the Welsh Government and other associated partners. The contract requires suppliers to provide high-quality customer service, particularly in conducting on-farm habitat assessments and management planning, making it a fitting opportunity for businesses specialising in environmental advisory, sustainable farming practices, and related technical support services. The eligibility to bid requires pre-submission registration on the DPS, offering a distinct advantage for business growth by enabling participation in potential future contracts throughout the DPS's duration until October 2028.
