Summary of the contracting process

Translink is currently in the planning stage of a procurement process for the supply of single deck coaches. This opportunity, categorised under goods procurement, aims to establish a Single Supplier Framework to provide modern, efficient, and wheelchair-accessible coaches for their Goldline service across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Key aspects include a focus on brand image, reliability, environmental integration, and passenger comfort. Translink will host a market engagement presentation in Belfast in June 2026, and interested suppliers must respond to David Lowry via email by 3pm on 7th May 2026. Located in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Translink operates under Northern Irish devolved regulations and is classified as a public undertaking.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for manufacturers and suppliers specialising in coach vehicles, particularly those focusing on wheelchair accessibility and zero-emission technology. The procurement method involves establishing a framework agreement, allowing suppliers to influence the tender structure and framework duration. With no guaranteed orders, suppliers can leverage this opportunity to showcase their capabilities and align their technology roadmap with Translink’s future procurement requirements. Businesses prepared to demonstrate competitive advantages in coach safety, efficiency, and sustainability would be well-suited to participate and potentially grow their market presence through this opportunity.
