Summary of the contracting process

The Northern Ireland Prison Service has recently completed a direct award procurement process for the "License for Business Objects" with the support of the CPD - Supplies & Services Division, a central government procurement body in Northern Ireland. This procurement, tagged under the services industry category, is situated in Belfast, United Kingdom. It provides enterprise support for licenses owned by the Northern Ireland Prison Service, aiming to facilitate future software updates and maintenance. The procurement process was justified by the exclusive intellectual property rights held by the supplier, which meant no viable alternatives were available. The contract, valued at a gross amount of £250,000, was signed on 2nd June 2026 and will remain active until 31st December 2029.

This tender offers substantial opportunities for businesses involved in IT services, particularly those specialising in consulting, software development, and support. Large enterprises capable of providing specialised technical support, particularly those with experience in handling intellectual property or exclusive rights situations, would be well-positioned to engage in similar contracts in the future. By participating in direct award processes with government entities, businesses can secure long-term contracts that provide stable revenue streams and solidify relationships with public sector clients.
