Summary of the contracting process

The Submarine Delivery Agency is developing a support solution for Control and Indication (C&I) equipment across the UK submarine fleet and selected surface ships. The requirement covers the supply of spares and electronic and electrical components, equipment repairs, engineering support, logistics services and proactive management of obsolescence. The single-lot structure and broad scope may favour an established systems-support provider, a prime contractor able to coordinate specialist subcontractors, or a consortium bringing together component manufacturers, repair specialists, engineers and logistics businesses. SMEs are expressly identified as suitable, so smaller firms with relevant technical capability should consider contributing to the market engagement and preparing for the future tender.

Planning Information

The Submarine Delivery Group (SDG), Platform Equipment Delivery Team (PEDT), has an enduring requirement to provide support for Control and Indication (C&I) equipment services across all UK submarines and selected surface ships. As existing support arrangements approach expiry, PEDT is developing a future support solution that will maintain operational capability through the provision of spares, repairs, engineering support, logistics services and proactive obsolescence management. The Authority seeks to assess the commercial market’s capability to tender solutions that meet this future procurement need. This process will enable the Authority to plan activities effectively and may assist in shaping the future procurement strategy and defining the scope of the requirement.
