Summary of the contracting process

Public Services Delivery Scotland, through National Procurement, procured a framework for dental sundries on behalf of NHS Scotland health boards, special health boards and other eligible NHS organisations, integrated joint boards and Scottish hospices. The products cover hospital dental services in Scotland, not general dental practitioners. The six product groupings span hygiene, prevention and consumables; restorative and operative dentistry; surgical products, medicaments and orthodontics; impression, laboratory and diagnostic products; rotary instruments, burs and digital dentistry; and dental sundries equipment. The wider product range includes endodontic supplies, finishing and polishing products, hand instruments and pieces, impression materials, cements, oral hygiene products, pins and posts, restorative and temporary crown materials. This is a supply framework for dental consumables and equipment.

The procurement has been awarded and contracts have been signed under an open procedure and a multi-supplier framework. The three suppliers appointed to each of the six product groups are The Dental Directory, Wrights Healthgroup and Henry Schein UK Holdings Limited. Each of the six contracts is recorded at £13 million, and each was signed on 31 August 2026; the stated contract period for the lots is 1,440 days, with no renewal or additional purchase options. The tender submission deadline was 25 June 2026. Price carried 70% of the evaluation, with service, sustainability and resilience each carrying 10%. Electronic catalogues were required for most lots; variants were not permitted. Three bids were received per lot.

This award shows demand from NHS Scotland hospital services for a broad, dependable supply of dental products, organised into specialist product groups.
