Summary of the contracting process

The General Optical Council, a sub-central government authority located in London, is actively seeking proposals for the commissioning of a "Public Consultation Platform". This project falls under the services category, particularly focusing on IT services such as consulting, software development, Internet, and support. The procurement is currently at the tender stage, with a submission deadline set for 17:00 on Wednesday, 22nd July 2026. The tender is open, encouraging competition and is classified as a below-threshold procurement process. The contract, valued at up to £60,000 inclusive of VAT, is expected to run from 2nd November 2026 to 1st November 2031.

This tender presents a substantial opportunity for businesses specialising in IT services to establish or expand their footprint within the public sector. The requirement for a public consultation platform invites proposals from entities capable of providing secure and reliable IT solutions, making this an ideal opportunity for SMEs and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) with relevant experience. Businesses with capabilities in qualitative analysis of survey responses and the capacity to deliver within specified timelines and costs are particularly well-suited to compete. The tender process is open, ensuring fair competition and a chance for innovative solutions to be proposed.
