Summary of the contracting process

Luton Council is currently in the planning stage of a procurement process for the refurbishment of Whipperley Court block, located in Farley Hill, Luton, UK. The project involves both internal and external renovation works on two-storey residential buildings comprising council-owned and leasehold flats. The buyer, Luton Council, aims to enhance the safety, appearance, and usability of the communal areas, reduce defects, and comply with health and safety standards. Key dates include a market engagement session scheduled for 30th June 2026, and the main procurement activities will begin on 1st September 2026, with an expected completion by 27th November 2026. The industry category for this tender falls under construction work, with a total contract value estimated at £170,000.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses in the construction industry, particularly those specializing in residential refurbishment and capable of working in occupied premises. Given the project's scope and the constraints of the refurbishment work, companies with experience in managing residential properties, dealing with leaseholder notifications, and ensuring minimal disruption to occupants would be well-suited to apply. Luton Council's emphasis on including small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) ensures that businesses of varying sizes have a chance to participate and potentially benefit from this procurement process.
