Summary of the contracting process

The Police and Crime Commissioner for West Midlands is conducting a procurement process titled "Supply and Delivery of a Wet Chemistry Solution." This process seeks to acquire portable, non-powered, field-deployable wet chemistry sets aimed at supporting rapid incident response by characterising unknown substances. The project falls under the industry category of machines and apparatus for testing and measuring. It is within the tender stage, with a submission deadline of 20th July 2026, and it is located in the West Midlands region of the United Kingdom. The procurement follows an open, below-threshold competition process under the legal framework of the UK Public Contracts Regulations 2023/54.

This tender presents opportunities for businesses specialising in chemical safety equipment production, particularly SMEs, as it has been marked suitable for them. Companies involved in manufacturing and delivery of testing machines, as well as those capable of providing training solutions for their products, could find growth opportunities here. With a contract value grossing £192,000, the tender requires supply and delivery of kits along with associated training and reach-back services, which will enhance operational response capabilities. Bidding will focus on quality, price, and social value, aligning with rigorous operational requirements and standards, thereby offering significant commercial potential for innovative suppliers. The contract spans a period from September 2026 to August 2029, with extensions possible based on performance.
