Summary of the contracting process

The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is currently in the planning stage of a procurement process titled "Market Engagement - Home Settle and Support Service," which falls under the category of social work and related services. This initiative aims to provide practical support to vulnerable residents in the United Kingdom, particularly in the UKI52 region, following a hospital stay or when they're at risk of admission. The procurement process involves engaging with suppliers for insights and feedback to shape the future service iteration. The revised deadline for expressions of interest is 12 noon on 13th July 2026, followed by a market engagement event scheduled for 14th July 2026. The procurement is classified under a "light touch" regime and has a projected contract period from April 2027 to March 2030, possibly extending to March 2031.

This tender presents an opportunity for businesses specialising in social work and related services to engage with the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham to impact and influence the design and delivery of a crucial support service. SMEs and VCSEs are particularly encouraged to participate, offering them a chance to contribute innovative solutions and collaborate with local authorities. By participating in early market engagement, businesses can align themselves with future procurement specifications, fostering growth opportunities within the community sector and enhancing service delivery models that focus on reducing isolation and promoting independence among vulnerable populations. Although participation in the engagement does not guarantee any competitive advantage in future tenders, it offers valuable networking and insight opportunities.

Notice Title

Market Engagement - Home Settle and Support Service

Notice Description

The Home, Settle and Support service provides short-term, practical support to vulnerable residents following a hospital stay, Emergency Department presentation, or where they are at risk of hospital admission from the community. The service supports timely and safe discharge, helps people regain confidence and independence at home, reduce loneliness and social isolation as well as prevent avoidable readmissions. Support is tailored to individual need and normally provided for a short period, up to a maximum of four weeks, with clear signposting and warm handovers into relevant community and voluntary sector services. We are inviting the market to help us develop our future iteration of the service through shared experience, best practice and innovation. This is solely for the purpose of gathering information and understanding market capability and capacity and not a call to competition. Participation in this engagement is voluntary and will have no bearing on any future procurement activity. Suppliers who participate will not receive any preferential treatment, advantage, or influence in any subsequent procurement process. Equally, suppliers who choose not to participate will not be disadvantaged or excluded from any future opportunity.
