Summary of the contracting process

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, based in London, has initiated an open tender for the provision of electrical maintenance services at the British High Commission in Lusaka, Zambia. The services will include maintenance for both office and residential properties, covering three storeys of office space and 16 residential structures. The procurement process is in the tender stage, with the end date for submission set for 17th July 2026. The contract, valued at £68,000, is set under the industry category of repair and maintenance services for electrical installations. Commencing on 1st September 2026, the contract is for two years with a potential two-year extension, depending on performance. Interested parties are required to submit their tenders through detailed electronic submission, with an enquiry period ending on 7th July 2026.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in electrical installation maintenance, offering a chance to secure a substantial contract with a central government department. Companies with expertise in preventative and reactive maintenance, as well as emergency electrical services, will find this tender particularly well-suited to their capabilities. The focus on compliance with British Standards and health and safety regulations suggests that firms with a strong track record in regulatory and safety compliance will have a competitive edge. The inclusion of both technical and commercial evaluation criteria also provides an opportunity for companies to compete on both the quality of their service offerings and the cost-effectiveness of their bids. This could ultimately drive business growth and expand their portfolio within the public sector.
