Summary of the contracting process

Anglian Water Services Limited, operating as a private utility in the UK, is currently in the planning stage of a procurement process for a Ground Investigation (GI) Framework. The planned framework will serve areas between Grimsby, Daventry, Basildon, and Norwich, offering opportunities to engage suppliers in various ground investigation works and services. Key dates include an expression of interest deadline set for 1st September 2026, and an expected award period end date on 18th December 2026. The procurement method is selective, utilising a competitive flexible procedure, and aims to establish a framework agreement with a five-year term extendable to eight years. The intended framework, with an estimated spend of over £35 million excluding VAT, will cover major infrastructure projects, including reservoirs, desalination plants, and an advanced water recycling centre.

The procurement process presents considerable growth opportunities for businesses involved in construction and geotechnical engineering. With five lots in the framework, it caters to businesses capable of delivering trench-digging, drilling, testing, and monitoring services, among others. The framework is particularly accommodating to both large firms and smaller entities, especially in contracts valued below £100,000. The project scope aligns with major infrastructure development, making it suitable for companies ready to engage in large-scale projects or smaller, routine works. Small to medium-sized enterprises and micro-entities can particularly benefit from contracts in lots 3, 4, and 5, which focus on works and services typically below the stated threshold, promoting diverse participation based on company capacity and expertise.
