Summary of the contracting process

The Generations Multi Academy Trust has initiated an open procurement process for a catering tender, involving the provision of food services across its four schools in Hertfordshire, UK. This tender is currently in the tender stage, with key dates including an enquiry period ending on 7th August 2026, and a tender period concluding on 25th September 2026. The contract, valued at £5.25 million, is set to commence on 1st January 2027 and could extend up to 31st December 2031. This strategic opportunity is poised for businesses able to align with the Trust's vision of promoting health and wellbeing through food service, reflected in a competitive flexible procedure under UK legislative guidelines.

This catering tender represents an excellent growth opportunity for businesses that specialise in school catering services, particularly those with the capability to provide innovative food solutions that can support and enhance educational environments. Companies that are adept at delivering high-quality catering services while maintaining financial viability would find this tender especially suitable. The Trust is looking for partners who can potentially drive sales growth beyond the existing budget of £1.05 million, making this an attractive proposal for suppliers focused on expanding their footprint in the educational sector. The selection process will focus significantly on quality, which constitutes 70% of the award criteria, thereby favouring businesses that can offer exceptional service and foster community ties.

Generations Multi Academy Trust ~ Catering Tender

Notice Description

The successful Supplier will be required to provide catering services for the four schools of Generations MAT, two Secondary schools - Goffs Academy and Goffs Churchgate and two primary schools, Flamstead End and Oakview Primary School and potentially new schools as they join the trust where existing contract allow. The name "Generations" was deliberately chosen for our Trust, and reflects our desire to be a Trust that educates and nurtures children from their earliest days at school. Partnership is at the heart of our all of our work, founded in a core commitment to there being no set destiny for any child, regardless of their starting point. Goffs Academy is a mixed 11-18 comprehensive academy with approximately 1,600 students on roll, including a thriving and successful sixth form. The school is also extremely popular in the local area, with an average of over 800 applications annually for the 240 places available, and significant waiting lists for places across the year groups. Goffs-Churchgate Academy is a fully mixed 11-16 comprehensive school, with approximately 600 students on roll. The school has rightly established a very strong reputation for both its academic outcomes and its close-knit, nurturing community, receiving an average of over 600 applications for just 120 available places. The decision to cap student numbers at 600 is entirely deliberate, enabling us to maintain a strong sense of community where everybody knows everybody else. Flamstead End School is a thriving primary school with approximately 480 children on roll. It has a preschool, a 60-place nursery offering 30 hours provision, and two classes per year group from Reception to Year 6. Flamstead End is also a ' Herts Therapeutic Thinking' school, and seeks to understand and support children's behaviour so that they are able to learn and achieve to the best of their ability. The school is a tight knit community, with a well-established staff who care for one another and the children in their charge. Oakview Primary School is a one-form entry warm and welcoming primary school with currently approximately 180 children on roll although we anticipate that this will grow to a figure closer to the theoretical capacity of 210. After joining the trust in January of 2025, Andrews Lane Primary was relaunched as Oakview Primary, marking the beginning of a significant transformation under the leadership of the Trust. This was far more than a rebrand. The change of name signaled a new identity, reflecting the ambition to deliver a higher quality of education, stronger community links, and continuously improving outcomes for all children. As a 'Herts Therapeutic Thinking' school, the school is committed to understanding and supporting children with their learning and achievement, within a context of deep-rooted mutual respect. Staff are committed, dedicated professionals who want to do their very best for every pupil. The Trust is presenting this exciting opportunity to partner with a supplier who is able to deliver their vision of promoting health and wellbeing through food provision across the four schools which currently are budgeted to achieve sales of PS1.05m with a catering model that is close to break even for the trust. It is thought that, with focus of resources and investment, there is still some growth potential through finding the optimum foodservice offer. Please see PSQ Document for more information.
