Summary of the contracting process

Kent County Council, a public authority in the sub-central government category, is currently in the planning stage of a procurement process titled "Home Safety and Security Installation Service". The preliminary market engagement is set to take place online on 25th August and 4th September 2026, aimed at informing the development of domestic safety service requirements. This initiative, based in Maidstone, falls under the services category and encompasses various industry sectors including surveillance, security systems, alarm installations, and community social services. The council intends to formalise this procurement process in accordance with the UK Procurement Act 2023, with a planned contract start date of 1st November 2027, for a duration of three years and an estimated annual value of up to £500,000.

This tender presents significant potential for growth among businesses specialising in property security, particularly those experienced in sanctuary-style provision and target hardening interventions within domestic settings. Organisational expertise in delivering services discreetly and professionally to vulnerable individuals, including victim-survivors and households with safeguarding concerns, will be advantageous. The engagement process is designed to explore service delivery options, including partnership models, and to gather insights on market capacity. Providers with a background in cooperation with statutory and voluntary sector services in areas like housing, community safety, and safeguarding are especially encouraged to participate. This represents an opportunity for businesses to influence future service design and positioning themselves for upcoming opportunities in the procurement process.
