Summary of the contracting process

Northern Ireland Water Limited intends to procure corporate healthcare services for its employees and their immediate families. The service is expected to include cover for pre-existing medical conditions, prompt local consultations and tests up to £2,500, and prompt treatment with limited surgery at Kingsbridge Hospital and North West Independent Hospital. Required provision also includes private physiotherapy, available face to face and virtually; psychological wellbeing services and counselling; a 24/7 GP advice line with telephone and video consultations; stress counselling; elder care advice; mental health support; cancer advice; and discounted treatments and services. Employees must have instant access to all services from the first day. Delivery is for Northern Ireland, under the health insurance services category.

This procurement is at the planning stage: Northern Ireland Water has stated its intention to procure, but has not issued an invitation to tender. The buyer plans to issue a request for information through eTendersNI, with engagement scheduled to conclude on 31 August 2026. The expected contract period is 1 November 2026 to 31 October 2032. The procurement is for utility services and is arranged as one planned lot. Video consultations are available 7 days a week, 8am to 10pm, except Christmas Day. Employees, and their immediate family, can access this service when travelling overseas. If clinically appropriate, our GPs can prescribe some medications over the telephone. These costs are not covered by the employees' membership - they are private prescriptions and separate charges apply for the cost of medication and delivery, which your employees will pay directly to the pharmacy. Prescriptions can either be collected from a pharmacy local to your employee or delivered directly to your employee the next working day. o 24/7 Stress Counselling Helpline o Elder Care Advice Service o Mental Health Support short-term structured support for employees facing life stressors such as: * Bereavement. * Work or relationship difficulties. * Mild to moderate distress. Structured Wellbeing counselling Supported Self-help Support referral o Cancer Advice Service o Discounted treatments and services Instant Access to all services is required from day one.

Planning Information

A request for information (RFI) will be issued via eTendersNI. We welcome responses from all interested parties. The current agreement is with Benenden Healthcare and has been in place for circa 10 years. Initially with a small number of employees, which has steadily grown. The current agreement covers pre-existing medical conditions and employees have access to all services from day one. NI Water pays the annual membership fee for each employee who is a member. This is then re-couped via salary sacrifice. NI Water requires the same service, as a minimum, going forward.
