Summary of the contracting process

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is currently in the planning stage for a procurement process titled "Retail Outlet at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital." This initiative falls under the services industry category with a focus on retail and cafeteria services. Located in Shropshire, UK, the Trust aims to establish a retail hub within the main entrance of the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital to enhance patient and staff experience. Key dates include an engagement session scheduled for 4th August 2026, with further future notices expected by 11th August 2026. The contract, identified under lot 1, is planned to commence on 1st March 2027, running until 31st March 2043, with potential renewal options extending to 2048. This development is part of a larger healthcare system investment to upgrade and modernise hospital facilities.

The Trust's vision for a flagship retail hub that supports staff wellbeing and provides 24-hour services aligns with businesses capable of offering high-quality food, beverages, and essential products. Given the large workforce and anticipated increase in hospital visitors, retail partners well-versed in efficient space usage and customer service within healthcare settings will find this opportunity particularly promising for business growth and long-term viability. Interested parties are encouraged to engage in the upcoming market engagement to better understand the project's scope and requirements.
