Summary of the contracting process

Network Rail Infrastructure Limited is conducting a procurement process for track maintenance services under the title "UK2 - Preliminary Market Engagement Notice Template - Track Maintenance". This project, which falls under the works industry category, aims at delivering comprehensive track refurbishment and maintenance services across various regions in the United Kingdom, including Southern Region, UKJ, and UKI. The procurement is currently in the planning stage, and the market engagement was completed with feedback collected in March 2025. The contract period is set to begin on 1st July 2027 and may extend until 30th June 2035. The procurement process employs a framework agreement, and the projected value of the project is £39 million, with a gross amount of £46.8 million.

This tender presents numerous opportunities for business growth, particularly for companies specialising in railway construction, refurbishment, and maintenance. With Network Rail Infrastructure Limited as the buyer, the project encourages participation from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community and social enterprises (VCSEs), indicating an inclusive approach to supplier engagement. Businesses involved in track construction, plain line replacements, S&C renewals, or maintenance of track drainage and lubrication systems will find this tender particularly suitable. The structured contract and the potential for renewals are designed to cater to a wide range of contractors, offering them chances to expand their portfolio and establish a long-term relationship with a central government authority.
