Summary of the contracting process

This public procurement process, initiated by Hampshire County Council, pertains to the waterproofing works at Emsworth House Nursing Care Home. The project involves the application of a specialist waterproofing system to two existing lift shafts to mitigate groundwater penetration, with the works ideally scheduled during summer to ensure optimal conditions. The procurement falls under the category of building construction work and was awarded to MKG Building Services Ltd. The process, completed as of the award date on 28th July 2026, follows a selective procurement method below the threshold, under an existing framework agreement. The contract commenced on 3rd August 2026 and is set to conclude on 21st August 2026 at a gross value of £31,065.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in construction works, particularly those with expertise in waterproofing solutions such as Sika products. Companies equipped to handle the coordination and temporary relocation of lift equipment and services would be well-suited to pursue such contracts. The project offers a platform for small and medium-sized enterprises to capitalize on public sector opportunities in the Hampshire region, thereby aiding in their business growth and portfolio expansion.

Notice Title

Emsworth House Nursing Care Home - Lift Pit and Water Ingress

Notice Description

Waterproofing works are required to two existing lift shafts. The works shall involve a specialist internal waterproofing application, to be undertaken by a approved contractor that works with products such as Sika or an equivalent provider. The observed water ingress is considered to be a result of failure or deterioration of the original external waterproofing system. Therefore, the proposed internal waterproofing solution is intended to mitigate groundwater penetration into the lift pits. The waterproofing system shall be applied to a minimum height of 150mm above external ground level. Achieving this may necessitate the temporary relocation of existing lift equipment and low-level services within the shafts. Assistance from the term maintenance contractor may be required to disconnect, relocate, and reinstate these services prior to and following the waterproofing works. It is recommended that the works are scheduled during the summer months, when the groundwater table is typically lower. This will allow the lift pits to dry sufficiently to meet the moisture content requirements necessary for the successful application and performance of the waterproofing system. Each lift will need to be taken out of service for approximately 2-3 days to facilitate the works. Appropriate planning and coordination will be required to minimise disruption to building operations to the care and nursing home.
