Summary of the contracting process

Network Rail Infrastructure Limited is currently in the planning stage for a procurement process titled "Provision and Maintenance of Ultrasonic Rail Flaw Detection Devices," aimed at enhancing the operational efficiency of their existing equipment. This project is categorized under the industry of error-monitoring equipment and falls under the goods procurement category. The procurement is a mini-competition using the RISQS code C.C.3.4.5.6 and is targeted through a market engagement notice first published on 29th July 2026. Suppliers have until 27th August 2026 to express their interest via RISQS, with a combined Procurement Specific Questionnaire (PSQ) and Invitation to Tender (ITT) anticipated to launch in October 2026 and conclude by December 2026. The location is centralised around the United Kingdom, particularly London, with the contract period expected to start on 12th April 2027 and run through 31st March 2030, including a potential one plus one-year extension option.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in the manufacturing and servicing of ultrasonic testing devices, given Network Rail's requirements for new equipment and maintenance services. Companies that offer not only competitive pricing but also innovative, high-quality solutions are likely to benefit the most. The involvement of the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for maintenance suggests ample ongoing opportunities beyond the initial supply. Participation in this tender can pave the way for long-term partnership prospects with one of the UK's central government public authorities, furthering a business's credibility and reach within the transport infrastructure sector.
