Summary of the contracting process

Bristol NHS Foundation Trust intends to procure a measured term contract for works and associated repair, maintenance and installation services across six disciplines: mechanical, electrical, painting and decorating, building work, fire doors, and flooring. The work will support multiple sites within the City & Weston Hospital Operating Unit and Southmead Hospital Operating Unit, in Bristol and Weston. It is classified primarily as construction work, with related requirements covering industrial machinery, electrical equipment, repair and maintenance, installation, and construction-related professional services. The procurement is divided into lots corresponding to the disciplines described, although the Trust may revise the proposed scope, lot structure or procurement strategy before the formal tender is issued.

This procurement is at the planning and preliminary market engagement stage; it is not yet a formal invitation to tender. The Trust expects to use a competitive flexible procedure under the Procurement Act 2023. The anticipated initial contract period is 14 September 2027 to 13 September 2032, with renewal options allowing a maximum potential duration to 31 March 2034. The estimated value is £30,470,174 excluding VAT, or £36,564,208.80 including VAT. Suppliers are invited to express interest and provide feedback on the proposed approach by 6 August 2026. The Trust is considering appointing two or more suppliers for the mechanical, electrical and building work lots, with work allocation set in the future tender documents. Bristol NHS Foundation Trust (BFT) intends to conduct a tender for a Measured Term Contract (MTC) across the following disciplines: * Mechanical * Electrical * Painting & Decorating * Building work * Fire Doors * Flooring The proposed route to market is via an Competitive Flexible procedure under the Procurement Act 2023 (PA23). Appointed suppliers will deliver services across multiple sites within the City & Weston Hospital Operating Unit (CWHOU) and Southmead Hospital Operating Unit (SHOU). The anticipated contract term will be 60 months, with the option for two further periods of 12 months each, giving a maximum potential contract duration of 84 months. The procurement will be divided in lots, as outlined above. The Trust is currently considering the option to award to two or more suppliers each for the Mechanical, Electrical and Building Work lots, with allocation of work between successful suppliers being determined in advance and in accordance with the methodology and criteria set out with the Invitation to Tender (ITT). Suppliers are invited to express their interest and provide feedback on the proposed procurement approach by responding to this UK2 Notice using the contact details provided within.
