Summary of the contracting process

Merseytravel is appointing an engineering contractor for early contractor involvement (ECI), detailed design and remedial construction works at eight ventilation stations across the Kingsway and Queensway Tunnel estate. The work will develop the detailed design of remedial measures identified in Building Fabric Condition Survey Reports, followed by construction if the Authority accepts the proposed costs and the contractor agrees to meet the project deadlines. This is a construction and engineering services requirement, covering both design development and remedial works. Delivery is across the Mersey Tunnels estate. Merseytravel, based at 1 Mann Island, Liverpool, is the buying organisation. The requirement is structured as a two-stage contract: Stage One covers ECI and design development, and Stage Two covers the construction phase.

The purpose of this commission is to appoint a Contractor under an early contractor involvement ("ECI") period, to carry out the detailed design of the remedial works identified within the Building Fabric Condition Survey Reports for the eight (8) ventilation stations across the Kingsway and Queensway Tunnel estate. The proposed contract is a 2 (two) stage contract as detailed in the tender documents: * Stage One - ECI /design development * Stage Two - Construction Phase (Remedial Works). N.B. This stage is dependent on the Authority accepting the proposed construction costs developed during the ECI period and the Contractor agreeing to undertake the Works in accordance with the project deadlines set out in the tender documents.
