Summary of the contracting process

Hampshire County Council procured building works at Calshot Activity Centre, specifically the main entrance lobby of Sunderland Hangar. The requirement concerned existing internal automatic sliding doors that were non-compliant. The selected contractor was to either remove the doors and make good the affected areas, or replace them with a compliant concertina-style automatic sliding door. The doors are used by the public during the centre’s opening hours, so the works relate to maintaining safe, compliant access to a public activity facility. Delivery is in the Hampshire area, at Calshot Activity Centre. The procurement is categorised as works, with the related classification describing building construction work.

This procurement has been completed and the contract was awarded to GREEN BUILDING MAINTENANCE LIMITED, an SME based in Waterlooville. It was a selective, below-threshold award under a framework and was recorded as non-competitive. The contract was signed on 25 June 2026. Its active delivery period runs from 24 to 28 August 2026. The contract value is £17,032 excluding VAT and £20,438 including VAT. The single lot is complete, and the award is active. The expected work involved either removal and making good or replacement of the existing doors, with the precise solution to be delivered under the contract. The requirement forms part of a framework-related procurement process.

This award shows demand from Hampshire County Council for specialist automatic-door and access works in a public-facing activity centre. A credible future supplier would need practical experience removing non-compliant automatic sliding doors, making good surrounding finishes, and installing compliant automatic concertina doors where replacement is required. Capability should include safe work in an occupied public building, managing access and disruption, and delivering work to an agreed compliance standard. Suppliers also need to accommodate out-of-hours working, such as early weekday mornings or weekend evenings, because the entrance must remain available to the public during opening hours. Relevant building-works experience and the ability to operate through a framework route would strengthen competitiveness for similar requirements from this buyer.

Notice Title

Calshot Activity Centre - Auto Door Works

Notice Description

- Removal of existing internal non-compliant automatic sliding doors from the main entrance lobby of Sunderland Hangar including subsequent making good. or: - Replacement of existing internal non-compliant automatic sliding doors from the main entrance lobby of Sunderland Hangar with a new compliant concertina style automatic sliding door. Due to the location of the doors these are required to be available for use by the public during opening hours, the works will likely therefore need to take place out of hours over the course of a number of days, the contractor should therefore only accept the EOI if they are open to out of hours working which would likely either be early morning weekdays of weekend evenings. Exact timings to be confirmed.
