The London Borough of Hillingdon plans to appoint a service provider for fire alarm systems, fire-fighting systems, fire protection, emergency lighting and safety devices. The work covers planned servicing, reactive maintenance, repairs and replacements, together with small works projects up to an approved threshold for the relevant asset types. Its purpose is to maintain compliance with statutory and regulatory recommendations, industry standards, manufacturer requirements and safety standards. Services will cover the council’s housing stock of more than 11,000 properties, including general needs, sheltered and supported housing, as well as corporate sites across Hillingdon. This procurement is at the planning stage: Hillingdon Council has announced its intention to procure, but has not invited tenders. It is undertaking preliminary market engagement, with interested suppliers expected to request and complete a short questionnaire by 28 September 2026. Responses will inform the council and will not be evaluated, scored or carried into any later procurement. The council expects the next procurement notice on 20 October 2026. The planned contract is intended to run from 1 April 2027 to 31 March 2030, with renewal provisions allowing the arrangement to continue until 31 March 2034. There is one lot covering the full scope. The estimated value and final procurement procedure have not been set out at this stage.

This will suit established fire and life-safety contractors able to manage a broad planned and reactive maintenance service across housing and corporate property. Relevant capability includes servicing and repairing fire alarm and fire-fighting systems, maintaining emergency lighting and other safety devices, replacing defective assets, and delivering small fire-protection works. Suppliers should be able to operate a planned servicing regime, respond to faults, manage replacement work and demonstrate compliance with statutory, regulatory, industry, manufacturer and safety requirements. Experience across general needs, sheltered and supported housing would be useful, alongside the capacity to support more than 11,000 properties and council workplaces. SMEs are expressly considered suitable, so smaller experienced providers may wish to prepare for the future tender and engage during the planning exercise.
