Summary of the contracting process

Regional Business Services Organisation Procurement and Logistics, on behalf of Health and Social Care in Northern Ireland, is exploring a service to calibrate and repair audiology and newborn hearing screening equipment. The work is intended to ensure equipment remains properly maintained and services are delivered in line with applicable standards. It covers repair, maintenance and calibration of testing and audio equipment, including hearing-screening apparatus. The service is expected to operate across Health and Social Care sites in Northern Ireland. This is a single-service requirement rather than a procurement covering multiple stated lots. Suppliers with specialist expertise in audiology equipment, newborn hearing screening systems, calibration and associated technical repairs should be relevant to the market engagement.

The process is at the planning stage and is currently a pre-market engagement exercise, not an invitation to tender. The buyer expects to use the responses to understand market capability and potential requirements before any future competition. Interested suppliers are expected to complete a questionnaire through the secure messaging area by 15:00 on 1 October 2026; showing interest will not commit a supplier to a later tender. The buyer’s indicative date for a future notice is 2 November 2026. The planned contract period is 1 April 2027 to 1 April 2032, with renewal provision extending the maximum period to 1 April 2035. The published estimated value is £0, in GBP.

This engagement should suit suppliers that provide specialist calibration, servicing and repair for audiology and newborn hearing screening equipment across a dispersed healthcare estate. It is particularly relevant to businesses able to demonstrate reliable technical support for testing apparatus and audio equipment, manage planned calibration and reactive repairs, and work consistently across multiple Health and Social Care sites. Suppliers should be ready to explain how their service would meet applicable standards and how they could support effective delivery at scale. The questionnaire offers an opportunity to share practical market knowledge, including likely service requirements and delivery considerations, before the buyer finalises any future tender. It is therefore useful for established specialist providers preparing for a possible competition, rather than businesses seeking an immediate contract to bid for.
