Summary of the contracting process

UK Sport is buying specialist coaching support for its Elite Coach 25–27 programme, which supports 12 coaches across the high-performance sporting community. The work includes planning and delivering residential events, quarterly online group supervision, facilitated visits to one another’s performance environments, individual support, and creating, collecting and sharing 360-degree insight with coaches and sport sponsors. Leeds Beckett University is providing staff time, with the programme description identifying a named coach as able to deliver across its strands. The work is intended to run through to the Los Angeles Olympics and Paralympics. Delivery is in the United Kingdom. This is a professional coaching-services requirement centred on elite sport and coach development, rather than the supply of equipment or general training provision.

The procurement is complete and the contract has been awarded to Leeds Beckett University. The award is recorded as pending. UK Sport used a direct award below the applicable threshold, without competition. The stated basis for selection is that the named Leeds Beckett coach can deliver across all areas of the programme; no separate scoring criteria are recorded. The contract period runs from 28 September 2026 to 31 March 2027, with the work described as continuing through the Los Angeles Olympics and Paralympics. The award value is £48,600 excluding VAT (£58,320 including VAT). The procurement is arranged as one lot. The award date is not separately recorded; the award information was published on 28 September 2026.

For suppliers hoping to compete for similar work for UK Sport, this award indicates demand for hands-on development support for a small cohort of high-performance coaches. Credibility would depend on a delivery team able to combine residential programme design and facilitation with online group supervision, peer visits to performance settings and tailored one-to-one support. The work also calls for the ability to create, gather and share 360-degree feedback or insight with both coaches and sport sponsors. The selected provider was a university supplying specialist staff time, and the buyer’s stated reason for selection was the coach’s capability across every programme strand. Suppliers should therefore be able to demonstrate broad elite-sport coaching expertise and continuity across varied delivery formats, not just expertise in a single workshop or coaching discipline.
