Summary of the contracting process

GA Trains Limited procured continued access to its existing enterprise asset management (EAM) software platform, supplied as software-as-a-service licences. The package covers 220 full licences, 83 lite licences, 32 mobile licences, four connector licences, one web services licence, two report-author licences and Databridge Pro. The purpose is to maintain uninterrupted use of the current EAM system. The software supports connections and controlled information exchange with corporate, operational, reporting and engineering systems, including third parties such as leasing companies, manufacturers and maintainers. The service is for railway operations in the United Kingdom, with delivery locations identified across five areas of England.

The procurement is complete and was awarded by direct award to Intergraph (UK) Limited, the existing supplier. The award date was 2 October 2026. The award is valued at £468,395.52 excluding VAT, or £562,074.62 including VAT. The contract period runs from 14 October 2026 to 30 October 2027. There was one lot. The buyer’s stated rationale was that the existing platform’s integrations and data-movement functions are important to operations; switching suppliers would require rebuilding and revalidating multiple interfaces, bringing cost, resource demands, technical risk and potential disruption to passenger information services. The requirement was therefore awarded on technical grounds to the incumbent rather than through an open competition.

This award demonstrates demand from GA Trains Limited for ongoing EAM software licences and associated data-connection capabilities in a railway operating environment. A supplier seeking to compete for a comparable requirement when it returns to market would need to provide a dependable EAM platform and support the mix of full, lightweight, mobile, connector, web-service and reporting licences required. Credibility would depend on demonstrating that the system can exchange information reliably with corporate, operational, reporting and engineering systems, as well as external partners such as leasing companies, manufacturers and maintainers. The buyer’s rationale also highlights the importance of continuity: a credible alternative would need to address migration, interface redevelopment and revalidation, and show how technical risk and disruption to passenger services could be controlled.

Procurement Information

GATLs existing Octave Attune EAM solution is supplied by Intergraph (UK) Limited. Its integration, web-service and data-movement capabilities support controlled exchange of relevant information with connected corporate, operational, reporting and engineering systems, including third-parties: leasing companies, manufacturers and maintainers. Loss of access would result in extreme disruption to the operation of passenger services. Replacement by an alternative supplier would require the redevelopment and revalidation of multiple interfaces and integrations across stations, rolling stock, and operational control environments. This would involve significant cost, resource requirements, technical risk, and potential disruption to critical passenger information services.
