Summary of the contracting process

Supply Chain Coordination Limited, trading as NHS Supply Chain, is buying genetic hearing-loss testing solutions for use across the United Kingdom. The requirement covers point-of-care genomics analysers and associated consumables, including solutions, printer labels and reagent test cartridges. Suppliers may also offer optional clinical training, ongoing calibration and maintenance. The equipment and associated products and services are intended to provide a compliant purchasing route for hearing-loss tests. The framework is a single lot and can appoint multiple suppliers, giving NHS organisations access to these products and services through one framework arrangement. This is a procurement for medical diagnostic equipment and supplies, including diagnostic kits, devices and laboratory reagents.

The buyer invited offers through an open procedure to establish a closed, multi-supplier framework. The process reached the tender stage. The deadline for questions was 23 November 2026 at 15:00, and offers were due by 30 November 2026 at 15:00. The award decision was expected by 1 February 2027. The framework contract period is 2 March 2027 to 1 March 2029. The estimated framework purchase value is £10 million excluding VAT; this is an estimate, not guaranteed business, and actual purchasing will depend on participating organisations’ requirements. There is one lot. Evaluation weights price at 30%; quality and wider value account for the remainder, covering capability, clinical assurance and governance, patient pathway and staff efficiency, resilience, social value and sustainability, and value-based procurement.

This opportunity is suited to suppliers able to provide point-of-care genomic testing analysers and dependable supplies of compatible consumables, such as reagent cartridges, solutions and printer labels. Suppliers offering clinical training, calibration and maintenance can also address the optional service requirements. The evaluation places substantial emphasis on clinical assurance and governance, resilience, and the practical benefits of testing for patient pathways and patients and staff, so bidders should be able to demonstrate safe, well-governed solutions and reliable support. Evidence of capability, efficiency, value-based procurement and credible social and environmental benefits will also be relevant, alongside competitive pricing. The framework is intended for multiple suppliers, and the buyer identifies it as suitable for SMEs and voluntary, community and social enterprises. It may suit product manufacturers, diagnostic specialists and service providers able to support NHS use across the United Kingdom.
