Notice Description

Notification of Award of Contract of a previously advertised tender opportunity:The works will involve potential structural steel repairs, preparation to SA2 1/2 standard of cleanliness to bright steel and application of a three/two coat paint system over the entire footbridge and associated access steel rampsRemediation works will comprise either of the following Options individually or a combination of the two;Option 1: Footbridge remediation works as per the scope of works to be undertaken wholly in-situ of the bridge's existing geographical location.The works will involve potential structural steel repairs, preparation to SA2 1/2 standard of cleanliness to bright steel and application of a three/two coat paint system over the entire footbridge and associated access steel rampsRemediation works will comprise either of the following Options individually or a combination of the two;Option 1: Footbridge remediation works as per the scope of works to be undertaken wholly in-situ of the bridge's existing geographical location.Option 2: The steel components of both the superstructure (comprising the main traffic span and access ramp) and substructure pier (if feasible to be removed from site otherwise refurbished insitu), to be wholly removed and transported off site to a convenient location where the remediation works can be undertaken as per the scope of works.If option 2 is taken forward, a site has been identified approximately 1.5 miles east if the site, traveling eastward on the A469, see drawing SO1024-006 for site location where the offsite refurbishment works can be undertaken for the duration of this contract.Working at height and management of traffic will be a specific hazard. Suitable temporary works such as design scaffolds (structural or otherwise) will be required. Suitable planning and precaution required ensuring health and safety especially working at height and protection from hazardous processes of all who may be affected.If Option 2 is employed, suitably designed temporary structurers will be required to support cantilevering access ramps .The structural scaffolding will be designed to support the existing remaining structures and must be installed prior to lifting the main span. The contractor is to ensure any foundations and / or footing's supporting the temporary works is suitable and satisfies the allowable ground bearing capacity. The loosening, lifting and transportation of the main span off site and subsequently returned and reconnecting must be undertaken and managed by a suitably qualified company and personnel. A lifting plan must be developed and submitted for review / comment from the Client / Principal designer.The contract is NEC3 Contract.
