SWANSEA UNIVERSITY

This public procurement record has 2 releases in its history.

Summary of the contracting process

Swansea University is currently engaged in a procurement process for a "Thermal Imaging Camera for the IMPACT Project" aimed at acquiring a state-of-the-art thermal camera capable of high-speed imaging (up to 1000 frames per second) with a broad temperature range of -20 to 2000°C. The contract specifies delivery to the Bay Campus in Swansea and focuses on the goods category, particularly laboratory and optical equipment. This tender was initiated under the open procurement method, and interested suppliers were required to submit their bids by 26 November 2021.

This opportunity presents significant growth potential for businesses specialising in high-technology imaging equipment, optical instruments, and related services. Companies with expertise in precision instrumentation and thermal imaging technologies would find this project particularly relevant, enabling them to showcase innovative solutions in a university environment. Additionally, suppliers equipped to provide advanced software to operate the thermal camera and manage data would also be well positioned to compete for this contract.

Notice Title

Thermal Imaging Camera for the IMPACT Project

Notice Description

This tender is to purchase an ultra-fast (up to 1000 frames per second) broad band (1-5mm) cooled thermal camera with wide temperature range (-20-2000oC) with the capability to add filters to selectively image: e.g., to see through glass or through flames or to selectively image CO2 emissions. The camera will be portable, but the contract is to be delivered to Bay Campus. The camera should be capable of running up to 125 frames per second at full window and up to 1000 frames per second at reduced window size. The camera detector should be broad band (1-5mm). The camera temperature range should be -20-2000oC. The camera resolution should be up to 640 x 512 pixels with a pixel size of 15 um. The thermal sensitivity of the camera should be <= 25 mK. The camera should have the capability to add filters to selectively image: e.g. to see through glass or through flames or to selectively image CO2 emissions. The camera package should include a blackbody reference source to relate light intensity to temperature. The camera software should be able to stitch together image data from different temperature ranges. The camera software should also be able to run two cameras at the same time and to be able to trigger them to start and stop recording at the same time.
