This contract, estimated to be valued at £130,000, is aimed at supplying 20 cases of the Inari Flow Triever to assist the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board in treating high-risk patients. The procurement is currently in the planning stage, with a notice of intent to award expected on 28th January 2022. The delivery will be handled within the UK.

Notice Title

Flow Triever Catheter System

Notice Description

NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership, on behalf of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board wish to inform the market that they intend to award Inari Medical a contract to supply 20 cases of the Inari Flow Triever.

Lot Information

Lot 1

Throughout 2021, Cardiff and Vale Health Board has been conducting a trial for the Inari Flow Triever. The device is used for the mechanical aspiration of blood clots when treating high risk, acute pulmonary embolism. The Inari device has a calibre up to three times the diameter of similar devices. Currently, the health board uses two other systems, which will continue to be used in appropriate cases. Through the acquisition of the Inari Flow Triever, the health board will be able to treat large clot presentations with greater flexibility, resulting in decreased mortality and morbidity. Without this purchase the health board will be unable to provide optimal treatment modalities for high-risk patients. This will result in an increased need for critical care access with a high incidence of mortality.
