Summary of the contracting process

Natural Resources Wales has conducted a public procurement process for "Orthorectification Services 2022", aimed at validating the data for the Welsh Government Woodland Estate. This procurement falls under the services category and is structured as an open tender, with the contract spanning four years, starting on 1 March 2022. It is focused on projects across all of Wales and included a deadline for tender submissions on 7 February 2022. The total contract value is £200,000, with the successful award granted to Geo Smart Decisions Ltd. The physical procurement stages have been completed, with the contract now active.

This procurement presents growth opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) specialising in environmental services, data validation, and geographic information systems. Companies capable of demonstrating expertise in orthorectification and having experience with similar frameworks are well-positioned to compete in this sector. Given the strategic importance of woodland management and resource planning in Wales, participating in such contracts can significantly enhance a business’s portfolio and market reach.
