Notice Title

Fieldwork for the 'Rising Cost of Living, Adult Health and Wellbeing and Childhood Experiences in Wa

Notice Description

The cost-of-living crisis is placing sustained pressures on households across Wales. These pressures are particularly felt among the lowest income households as they spend a greater proportion of their income on food and fuel, and these households are heavily concentrated in some of the most deprived areas of Wales (MacQueen et al 2022). In a snapshot on poverty in Wales in winter 2021, it was revealed that nearly 40% of Welsh households self-reported not having enough money for anything beyond the essentials, and that low-income households, renters, disabled people, lone parents, and adults aged between 25 and 64 were more likely to cut back on essentials or to fall into debt, than other groups (Bevan Commission 2021).Public Health Wales is establishing a national conversation panel to support rapid public engagement on issues of key public health importance, such as the impact of the rising cost of living. The 'Rising cost of living, adult health and wellbeing and childhood experiences in Wales' survey will be a pre-pilot for the panel survey and will also build on a pilot study undertaken in March 2022 examining the relationships between ACEs and trust in health services in Wales. The knowledge generated from the survey could be used to inform public health policies and the design and delivery of appropriate services and interventions.
