Notice Description

The Cardiff and Vale UHB is seeking security scanners with ongoing maintenance to mitigate the fire risks currently highlighted at Hafan Y Coed, University Hospital Llandough.In order to effectively manage the risk of fires to inpatient wards, ferrous metal detectors were identified to prevent contraband being brought onto the wards and reduce fire setting as part of the move towards a no smoking hospital. The device is a viable option to help mitigate fire risks.Therefore, the Health Board are looking to purchase an efficient and flexible threat detection system with the following features:- Device must be capable of being wall-mounted and freestanding- Devices must be able to produce advanced and precise results of where harmful objects are situated on a person's body. The device must have enhanced sensitivity throughout the area of detection.- Effective mitigation of background noise, resulting in fewer false alarms- Simple user interface to control audible, visual and user settings quickly and effectively- Device must be connected to main power supply with spare battery unit to supply the device for long periods of time- Detectors must be able to indicate the exact location of contraband efficiently without affecting detection results- Centralized data analysis and event reporting- Enhanced lower body detection- Consistent whole-body detection of threat items on or inside a person's bodySuppliers must be aware that due to limited space in the air lock at the entrance to each ward, the device must have a small footprint.It should be noted that the Health Board has capital funding to purchase these scanners and therefore, are looking to complete the tender within March for urgent delivery.NOTE: The authority is using eTenderwales to carry out this procurement process.
