CEB+ Refurbishment Works at Henfaes Research Centre, Abergwyngregyn, Gwynedd
Notice Description
Bangor University is currently finalising a business case to request funding from the North Wales Growth Deal to expand the Centre of Environmental Biotechnology, based at Bangor University.This project will explore the use of biological processes as low carbon alternatives to products and industrial manufacturing processes. The project will research unique enzymes and how they can transform into products that have less impact on the environment than current materials and industrial chemicals. This will support uptake of lower impact manufacturing technologies by businesses and work towards decarbonisation.The proposed funding will be used to:* Purchase additional equipment to establish a new microbial culture scale-up facility to support the planned development of the Centre for Environmental Biotechnology (CEB+)* Refurbish space at Henfaes Research Centre (Abergwyngregyn), to create a new workshop housing a scale-up facility, enhanced lab facilities and an upgraded business facing area.Refurbishment Works - Procurement Timetable.Bangor University is intending to advertise the contract opportunity for the refurbishment works on Wednesday, 17th April. Prior to that date, Bangor University and project partners would like to invite interested contractors to visit the site to discuss the plans and the requirements of the tender process. Contractors will be required to consider carbon reduction and biodiversity options as part of their tender submissions as well as being asked to offer social value contributions to the project via a Themes, Outcomes and Measures framework.The Contractor Event will be held at Henfaes Research Centre, Abergwyngregyn (marked as Bangor Forest Cyf. on Google maps) on Thursday, 11th April between 09:30 and 13:00. This will be a drop-in session which interested contractors can attend at a time to suit.Further details of the event and a copy of the RIBA Stage 4 Report an be obtained from: https://www.bangor.ac.uk/events/contractor-event-henfaes-research-centreContractors are advised that award of contract is subject to funding being approved.
